公元两千年过去了，Linux 2.4 核心已注定难产，无法在上一个世纪诞生。对此 Linux 之父 Linus Torvalds 表示他已经努力过了，他能给大家最好的新年贺礼，只有 Linux 2.4.0 抢鲜版。
这个抢鲜版正式的版本名称是 2.4.0-prerelease，Linus 希望大家尽量测试这个版本，而且他保证，绝不会再有更多的附加版本，像是 "prerelease1"、prerelease2"... 以下是个这版本的变革纪录：
